Charles D. (“Chip”) Porter, J.D., Managing Partner, has been co-owner of Legacy Capital since 1998 where he has represented numerous clients in various industries in successful mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Legacy, Chip was a Partner with the law firm of Phelps Dunbar, LLP, one of the largest firms in the Southeast, where his practice focused on business transactions, mergers and acquisitions. While at Phelps Dunbar, he served on numerous transactions as a lead attorney on behalf of clients of Legacy Capital. Chip was with Phelps Dunbar for eleven years, was Partner for five years, and was a member of the firm’s management committee. From 1979 to 1981, he worked for Ernst & Whinney in Phoenix, Arizona and was a licensed C.P.A. He is a Registered Representative and a Registered Principal with FINRA. Chip has presented several lectures on companies for continuing legal education seminars on behalf of Professional Education Systems, Inc.
Education
Chip received his B.S. in Accounting with honors from Northern Arizona University in 1979. He obtained his law degree with honors from Mississippi College School of Law in 1985 where he was an Associate Editor of the Mississippi College Law Review.
